Local Government:

    
 Nine members of Council and a Mayor govern the Municipality of Bethel Park. Each of the nine members of Council are elected by Ward and the Mayor is elected at large; all serve four-year terms. The population of the Municipality is evenly divided into the nine wards and each Council member is required to maintain residency in the Ward they are elected to represent.

Municipal Council Meeting Schedule:   The Regular Meeting of Council is held the second Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building Council Chambers .   Committe Meetings are held the fourth Monday of every month at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building Caucus Room.  2010 Municipal Council Meeting Dates

The residents of Bethel Park elected a Home Rule form of Government in 1978, which resulted in Bethel Borough being renamed as the Municipality of Bethel Park. This Home Rule form of government provides the Municipality with greater powers of governance than the former Borough form of government.
