Library Board

The Library Board is an eleven-member volunteer Board with two members appointed by Municipal Council to serve three-year terms. The purpose of the Bethel Park Library Board and its duties, which are illustrative and not exhaustive, include the following:

The Library Board is responsible for establishing policies and long-term goals for the library, securing adequate funding, formulating and adopting an annual budget, hiring and evaluating the Library Director, promoting and advocating for the library in the community.

The incumbent will support basic library tenets including intellectual freedom, confidentiality of patron records, the Library Bill of Rights, and the public's right to information, and be aware of local, state and federal library laws and issues related to libraries.  This position requires participation in monthly board meetings as well as in training and other meetings as required by the State and the County Library System.

 

2009 Library Board Meeting Schedule
All meetings convene in the Library Program room at 7:00 p.m. 
on the first Thursday of the month (No August meeting)
