Stormwater Engineer

GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK:

Performs professional and administrative engineering services related to the Municipal Storm Water System including management of flood mitigation projects, residential stormwater projects, the MS4 Program and operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the municipal storm sewer collection system.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering.

 

This is light work requiring the exertion of us to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, standing, and walking; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for depth perception, color perception, night vision, peripheral vision, preparing and analyzing written or computer data, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm’s length, operation of machines, operation of motor vehicles or equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:

Manage the operation, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the Municipal storm sewer collection system;

Planning, organizing and providing construction management of projects related to the storm sewer system, MS4 requirements, flood mitigation and streambank stabilization;

Assists with the designs, analysis, specifications, plans, investigations, cost estimates, tabulations of contract bids, and contract payments related to the storm sewer system, MS4 requirements;

Completes and files annual storm water reports;

Reviews development plans and permits for compliance with the ordinances, attends planning commission meetings to answer engineering related questions

Attend meetings with special organizations;

Researching, applying for grants and managing grants funds;

Reviewing erosion and sedimentation control plans;

Review residential grading and storm water management permits

Coordinates contract work so as to minimize public inconvenience;

Coordinates work with other Federal, State and County agencies;

Interacts with residents, public utilities and businesses;

Prepares a variety of technical reports and gives presentations of same;

Provides design and inspection on special projects;

Provides other engineering support, as needed;

Perform other duties assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to a storm water and sewer related field; ability to plan projects and prepare related designs, estimates and specifications; ability to perform difficult engineering computations and to make comprehensive recommendations on engineering problems; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, contractors and the general public; skill in the use of civil engineering instruments and equipment; ability to prepare engineering drawings; ability to communicate complete ideas effectively, orally and in writing; ability to prepare technical reports.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, and a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant engineering experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of Pennsylvania.

Bethel Park Farmers’ Market Coordinator

Bethel Park is seeking an individual for the position of Farmer’s Market Coordinator. This is a part time seasonal position with the Coordinator working a flexible schedule of 5-7 hours per week between March 9 through May 1, and every Tuesday from May 5 through September 29.  Primary responsibilities will be:  development/distribution/receipt of Market registration materials, recruiting and retaining quality vendors, provide on-site supervision Market day set-up of vendors, and general management of all Market activities.  Tuesday Farmer’s Market work hours shall be 1pm  to 7pm .

Successful  candidate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently, have previous customer service experience, valid driver’s license and vehicle, able to work outdoors in spring and summer weather conditions and able to lift 25 lb.
