Mayor Allen’s Programs and Upcoming Events:

Spring & Fall Clean Ups
The Municipality of Bethel Park, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), sponsors Spring and Fall Clean-Up Days.  PennDot supplies the trash bags, safety vests and gloves, and the Municipality provides patches for young participants.  This is an opportunity for willing volunteers to help clean Bethel Park’s parks and roadways and spruce-up the community.  A list of areas that are in need of cleanup are provided.  Fall Clean-Up is scheduled for the 3rd Saturday in October; Spring Clean-Up is the third Saturday in April (unless it falls on Easter weekend.)

90+ Club
If you’re a Bethel Park resident age 90 or older, you’re eligible to join the 90+ Club!  Each October, Mayor Allen hosts a luncheon at the Bethel Park Community Center for all 90+ Club members.  If you’re currently a member, you’ll automatically receive an invitation to the event.  In addition to the luncheon, birthday cards are sent to all members.

Bethel Park Annual Holiday Lighting & Decorating Contest
A Holiday Lighting & Decorating Contest is held the week before and week after Christmas that results in nine winners, one from each Ward.  Winners are announced at the January Council Meeting.  If you would like to nominate a house or help with judging, contact Janet Davin for details at 412-831-6800, x211 or via email at [email protected].

Annual Halloween Lighting & Decoration Contest
A Halloween Lighting & Decoration Contest is held the week before Halloween resulting in nine winners, one from each Ward.  Winners are announced at the November Council Meeting.  If you would like to nominate a house or help with judging, please contact Janet Davin for details at 412-831-6800, x211 or via email at [email protected].

Trolley Beautification Project
In effort to keep our town looking its best, Mayor Allen initiated a volunteer program to maintain the flower boxes along the trolley tracks from Center Street to South Park Rd.  Each box is assigned for one year with the design of the box determined by the volunteers. In addition to the initial plantings, periodic weeding needs to be done.

Recognition Awards
Recognizing our citizens for outstanding achievements is important to Mayor Allen.  Because of that, he developed a program to accomplish this mission!  Recognition Awards are presented to Bethel Park residents for a variety of special achievements or for going above and beyond to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
